learning ceramics without a wheel — my journey so far
From kitchen table experiments to firings and handbuilt forms, ‘a ceramics prelude’ is my space to explore, share and learn the art of pottery. No wheel, just curiosity, clay and a love for making beautiful, useful things.
about me
I make things.
I always have. Cards, sketches, photographs, bits of music, words… and even PowerPoint decks (hi there, corporate career).
I’ve spent most of my life working in the world of luxury. It taught me a lot about beauty, detail and refinement. Then one afternoon, ceramics arrived quietly, without warning or plan.
No studio, no wheel. Just me, my hands, my slightly-too-high kitchen table and a love that keeps growing stronger.
I’m still learning (aren’t we always?). I learn best by doing, often by getting it (very extremely) wrong first.
about 'a ceramics prelude'
This space helps me follow that learning. It’s where I gather what works, what breaks, the questions, the small wins and, obviously, the many mistakes, all noted in the journal.
Ceramics brings together everything I love: the gesture of painting, the rhythm of music, the stillness of a moment, the burst of joy when a piece finally comes out of the kiln whole.
I’m drawn to objects that grow old with us—not meant to be admired from afar but made to be used, touched and mostly loved. You’ll find some of my pieces here.
This is just the beginning. A prelude to a journey still composing itself.
If it speaks to you, come play along with me.
